SAFETY WARNING: CROSSING STREETS ON SUCCOS AND SIMCHAS TORAH

Sep 17, 2021 Article / Succos
SAFETY REMINDER FOR SUCCOS AND SIMCHAS TORAH.

We must all be careful about J-Walking and simply crossing streets and side streets on way home from Sukkas Seudah’s and Simchas torah at shul.

Many people will be out in festive moods and perhaps not paying attention as they cross the street.

THE LAPD IS GOING TO BE OUT IN FORCE! Many patrol cars will be out.  Remember J-waling in California is illegal and those who cross the street on red or at no crosswalk are subject to getting a ticket.

TIPS:

-Look both ways before crossing
-STOP at all alleyways!
-When crossing major boulevards make sure that cars to your left are NOT turning right as you step off the sidewalk.  Make eye contact with drivers before stepping off a curb.

THANK YOU, LAPD!
The police are going to be stepping up patrols in our community (Pico, La Brea, Valley) to keep us safe.
REMINDER: On Succos a few years ago an unidentified man leaving shul was hit by a car. He apparently was crossing Pico at S.Wetherly outside of an intersection or designated crosswalk.
We have all seen people J-walking. We have also seen families with children and strollers crossing without signals for crosswalks.   Many people are distracted when driving and may not see people in the street.  This is a very dangerous situation.

We should all be safe for the new year.
