SLOW STREETS ARE NOW OPEN – LA BREA AREA

Mayor Eric Garcetti announced today that Slow Streets L.A. — his initiative to temporarily calm traffic on some neighborhood streets to create space for Angelenos to walk, run, and bike — will launch this weekend in two communities.

Slow Streets are streets designated for people to walk, run, bike, and otherwise use the street space while maintaining social distancing. They are designed to eliminate cut through traffic and make the streets safer for all.

Slow streets work by placing a cone and sign at each end of the block, asking people to slow down and indicating the street as a slow street. Cars, emergency vehicles, and trash vehicles can still pass through, and parking is not impacted.
